February 3rd has been declared as Blogroll Amnesty Day. Following the lead of Jon Swift, bloggers are encouraged to open up their blogrolls to smaller ones or to those upcoming and starting bloggers, so that their voices could be heard. The authors' blogroll policy and practice shall be posted for all readers to understand, accept or reject. Most involve common courtesy and due respect. As bloggers, even if we are separated by distance or hidden by names and avatars, we are all human beings and are expected to act this way and be treated in the same manner.This is a little late for February 3rd but just in time for the Lunar Year (February 7), The Year of the Rat. The Spitting Vessel's Blogroll Policy include the following:
1. Sites found interesting, educational, enriching, enlightening, and worthwhile; even if these are unrelated to the theme of this blog, or are of a contrary opinion, belief, position, and orientation; shall be added to this blogroll, without thought or consideration to their ranking, authority, or popularity.
2. In relation to Policy #1, these blogroll additions shall be done unilaterally, without notifying the site author and under no obligation from the site author to reciprocate. Furthermore, the Spitting Vessel shall fave the site in Technorati or other communities where appropriate.
3. This blog practices a reciprocating policy. If this site is blogrolled, it will likewise blogroll the site that did, regardless of items 1 & 2.
4. This blog shall encourage other bloggers (new or existing) and be supportive of their endeavors, but will also provide feedback on those it disagrees with. This blog will disagree without being disagreeable, and would expect the same from those with contrary views.
5. This blog adheres to the "You Comment, I Respond" practice, and the "You Comment, I Follow" principle.
Suggestions as to other items of practice that may be added to these are welcome. All bloggers are urged to come up with their policy, published or not. We are creating a virtual world here, so knowing how turbulent the real one is, let's at least make this one more civilized and humane.
